What to Do in Fort Collins
Our friends at the
Fort Collins Convention and Visitors Bureau
have all the best information on what to do and where to go while you're here. Check out their
calendar of events while
you're at it. Fort Collins has a lot of microbreweries, museums, art galleries, and fabulous
restaurants for every budget and taste, all in the Old Town area where the festival venues
are. The foothills (which would be called "mountains" in most other states) are only a 45-minute
drive to the west and include some beautiful canyon scenery.
Weather
Early September in Fort Collins is usually warm to hot (80-85°F) and delightfully cool (60°F) at night. We have very low humidity most of the time, so you'll probably want to have water nearby. The altitude is about 5,000 feet above sea level, so we strongly suggest bringing sunblock with you, because you'll burn more easily than at lower elevations. We get about 300 days of sun a year, so it's a good bet the festival weather will be nice. Of course, with global warming and all making the weather more unpredictable, it could be rainy or even feel more like fall, so you might want to dress in layers that can be added or removed as needed.
Here's a current weather forecast for Fort Collins.
